About Ken Brodkey

As a young lute student at California State University Northridge, in Southern California, Ken built his first lute from a lute kit in 1976. It was an enjoyable project that inspired him to get serious about building and he sought out an apprenticeship the following year. He spent over two years working with Lyn Elder in Marin County, California and subsequently set up his own shop in Santa Cruz, California in 1980.
